Just before Christmas a friend of mine suggested this blog post to help manage the craziness of the holiday season: http://www.fastcompany.com/3003586/6-simple-rituals-reach-your-potential-every-day
The author lists “6 Simple Rituals” to help you reach each day’s potential. The third ritual came to my mind this morning when I was considering how I was going to pull off a big project with an oh-so-not-distant-enough-deadline! It was work that I knew would take time and focus and a lot of energy. It looked like a mountain I didn’t particularly feel like climbing, but really wanted to be at the top of.
The “50-10 rule” suggests you set a timer for 50 minutes and work uninterrupted (which for me, means un-facebooked and un-iphoned) for the entire 50 minutes and then rest, relax, Facebook and iPhone for the remainder of the hour. It took me two cycles, (two hours) to finish my work and provided me enough time to write this post, so there must be something to it!
Just a little note about how I tackled my day…give it a try and tell me how it goes!
